Goals for first year

  • Learn normal ultrasound anatomy

  • Become familiar with image acquisition

  • Become familiar with the different types of studies

  • Become familiar with acute pathologies for call

Rotation

What to read (ordered by priority)

  • New inpatient/ER

  • Outpatient

  • Consider staggering the types of studies you read to maximize learning

    • First batch - abdominal, renal, pelvic, venous (DVT)

    • Next - renal transplant, soft tissue, scrotal

    • Finally - thyroid, carotid, arterial

Expectations

  • Know the relevant history for each case. Bring questions!

  • Read ~25 cases/day by the end of rotation
